An FUD is a Foldup Decoy. The below description mainly deals with water game fowl, so only those parts that mention hunting on land apply to wood pigeons and crows.
This is the most practical decoy in the world. It is a 3-dimensional life-size decoy, the only decoy that can be used in water and on land.
Decoys are generally difficult to transport and store. However, every set of these decoys contains a green plastic carrier hook with which the folded FUD’s can be hung from a belt so that the hunter’s hands are kept free, or securely hung when stored or transported.
We stock FUD’s for the most hunted species of game fowl. These FUD’s are life-sized or somewhat larger than life size. These FUD’s are very true-to-nature thanks to the special method used to print a photo-quality design on the decoys. These designs are applied using ultra-matte paint that does not glisten in sunshine. Our pigeon decoys stand out and thereby attract other pigeons. This is so effective that it has been suggested in England that it is best not to use pigeon mills because these decoys are so appealing to pigeons.
The designs on these FUD’s are highly colourfast and will not fade.
What are the differences between FUD’s and the old plastic decoys? * FUD’s are compact and are easily transported. * FUD’s can be placed in various positions and their heads can be moved from an upright to a feeding position. * FUD’s can be used in water or on land.
Thanks to their keels, these FUD’s constantly move in the water in even the lightest of breezes. They can also be linked together to move as a group. This creates movement in your decoy setup!
These FUD’s are shot-resistant and will not sink like plastic decoys. This means that you can respond appropriately to illness amongst game fowl in your stock. FUD’s will last season after season. In testing them, they have been left outside in ice for an entire winter.
For use on land, they can be hammered into the hardest of ground. Their keels have been designed especially for this purpose and will not bend or rust.
If you accidently leave your decoys out in a field and drive over them, this will not affect them. Your decoys will not rupture like plastic decoys and can simply be re-used.

These FUD’s are designed to always right themselves in the water. It therefore does not matter how you throw them into the water, since they will always turn and right themselves.
Because these FUD’s are so lifelike and because they move, it can be very difficult to distinguish between them and real mallards in the water.
Because their bodies are 3-dimensional and life-sized and their heads are 1-dimensional and flat, overhead ducks or geese do not spot the heads immediately, giving them an impression of movement.
These FUD’s are very easy to fold out:
1) unfold the white flap is as illustrated in the diagram in the photograph;
2) unfold the coloured flap and secure;
3) pull the keel through the slot and your decoy is ready for use.
