640×512 thermal riflescope with 50 mm objective and integrated laser rangefinder
The HIKMICRO Stellar SQ50L 4.0 is a thermal riflescope with a 640×512 sensor with 12 µm pixel pitch, an NETD of <12 mK and a 50 mm F1.0 objective. The base magnification is 3.5×. The field of view is 8.8° × 7.0°, which equals 15.2 × 12.2 meters at 100 meters. This lets you survey open terrain well while still observing game in a focused way.
In practice, a 640×512 sensor lets you identify game well at 100 to 150 meters. The integrated laser rangefinder measures up to 1,200 meters and sits behind the lens, so you do not need a separate device to determine the distance to the game. The detection range of the thermal system is specified at 2,600 meters.
The focus and zoom ring is located on the side of the scope. You can focus and adjust the magnification without changing your grip. The 1.03-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 2560×2560 and a brightness sensor. The scope weighs 1,075 grams and is rated IP67.
10 key features of the HIKMICRO Stellar SQ50L 4.0
- 640×512 sensor, 12 µm: provides enough detail to assess game at common shooting distances.
- NETD <12 mK: high thermal sensitivity, so small temperature differences remain visible.
- 50 mm F1.0 objective: a fast objective for the thermal image.
- 3.5× base magnification: a calm image for scanning fields and open terrain.
- Integrated laser rangefinder up to 1,200 meters: determines the distance without a second device.
- Focus and zoom ring on the side: you operate both without changing your grip.
- Image Pro 4.0: HIKMICRO's image processing for the thermal image.
- Ballistic calculation: supports your aiming with additional ballistic information.
- Internal battery plus replaceable 18650 battery: carry a spare battery and stay out in the field longer.
- Recoil activation and IP67: recording is triggered by the shot, and the scope is protected against dust and water.
Image processing and display
The Stellar SQ50L 4.0 uses Image Pro 4.0 for image processing. The Shutterless-System (HSIS) is designed to interrupt the thermal image as little as possible, which helps when following moving game. You can adjust the contrast and choose from several color palettes. The AMOLED display has a brightness sensor.
Operation, mounting and ballistics
The scope is mounted with 30 mm rings. The integrated tilt sensor and the virtual reticle are part of the aiming functions. The ballistic calculation provides additional ballistic information based on the data you enter. The recoil activation starts recording when the shot is fired.
Photos, videos and app
You can take photos and videos and store them in the local album. Via Wi-Fi you connect the scope to the HIKMICRO Sight app on your smartphone.

The Stellar SQ50L 4.0 and the SQ50LR 4.0 share the same sensor, objective, field of view, display and laser rangefinder. The SQ50LR 4.0 is the rail version, while the SQ50L 4.0 is used with 30 mm rings. The SX75L 4.0 and SX75LR 4.0 have a 1280×1024 sensor, a 75 mm F1.2 objective, 3× base magnification and a detection range of 3,600 meters. Their field of view is 12.1° × 9.7° (21.2 × 17.0 meters at 100 meters). If you want a 640×512 sensor with a 50 mm objective, the SQ50L 4.0 is the model to look at.
