640×512 thermal riflescope with 50 mm objective and integrated laser rangefinder
The HIKMICRO Stellar SQ50LR 4.0 is a thermal riflescope with a 640×512 sensor with 12 µm pixel pitch, an NETD of <12 mK and a 50 mm F1.0 objective. The base magnification is 3.5× and the field of view is 8.8° × 7.0°, which equals 15.2 × 12.2 meters at 100 meters. This lets you scan open terrain and still zoom in on game when needed.
In practice, a 640×512 sensor lets you identify game well at 100 to 150 meters. The focus and zoom ring sits on the side of the scope, so you can adjust the image without changing your grip. The integrated laser rangefinder measures up to 1,200 meters, so you do not need a separate device to measure the distance to game.
For aiming, the SQ50LR 4.0 offers ballistic calculation and a virtual reticle. The image is shown on a 2560×2560 AMOLED display with a brightness sensor, which lets the display respond to the ambient light.
10 key features of the HIKMICRO Stellar SQ50LR 4.0
- 640×512 thermal sensor, 12 µm: provides enough detail to assess game well at typical hunting distances.
- NETD <12 mK: a low value indicates high thermal sensitivity to small temperature differences.
- 50 mm F1.0 objective: together with the sensor, it determines the field of view and magnification.
- 3.5× base magnification: gives a clear view of the game while keeping an overview of the terrain.
- Integrated laser rangefinder up to 1,200 meters: measures the distance to game directly from the scope.
- Ballistic calculation: provides ballistic information based on the data you enter.
- Image Pro 4.0: image processing for the thermal image.
- Focus and zoom ring on the side: you operate both functions without changing your grip on the scope.
- Internal battery plus replaceable 18650 battery: with a spare battery in your pocket, you can keep going longer.
- Recoil activation and IP67: the scope is intended for use on a rifle and has an IP67 water resistance rating.
Image and operation
The HIKMICRO Shutterless-System (HSIS) is designed to limit image interruptions during calibration, which is useful when you follow moving game. You can adjust the contrast and choose from multiple color palettes to suit the terrain and conditions.
The SQ50LR 4.0 has an integrated tilt sensor and a local album. You can record photos and videos, and you connect to your smartphone via Wi-Fi and the HIKMICRO Sight app. Image stabilization is not included.
Mounting and power supply
You mount the SQ50LR 4.0 on a rail. The scope also features recoil activation. It runs on an internal battery combined with one replaceable rechargeable 18650 battery, so you can swap the 18650 battery in the field.
