The Dark30 Defiance 640 PTZ is a vehicle-mounted thermal imaging camera featuring a high-resolution 640×480 thermal sensor, 17 μm pixel pitch and a NETD of less than 30 mK. The system has been developed for users who want to thermally monitor large areas from a vehicle while benefiting from greater image detail and thermal sensitivity than the Defiance LT 384 PTZ.
The camera offers a continuous 360° pan range and can tilt vertically from -90° to +45°. Mounting the camera on top of the vehicle creates an elevated observation point without side windows or the windscreen interfering with the thermal image. With a detection range of up to 1150 metres, a 32mm germanium lens and 1 to 8× digital zoom, the surroundings can be scanned quickly and heat sources can be followed accurately.
Images are displayed on a 10.1-inch LCD screen with a video output of 1920×1200 pixels. The camera connects directly to the screen via HDMI to help minimise image delay. A wireless remote control with joystick allows pan, tilt and zoom functions to be operated from inside the vehicle cabin. The IP66 aluminium housing and 12V DC power supply make the system suitable for intensive use during hunting, wildlife management and mobile observation.
