1280×1024 thermal clip-on with 70 mm lens and laser rangefinder
The HIKMICRO Thunder TX70CL 4.0 is a thermal clip-on with a 1280×1024 sensor with a 12 µm pixel pitch, an NETD of <12 mK and a 70 mm F1.3 lens. The specified detection range is 3,500 metres. This makes the model interesting for observing game at longer distances in open terrain and during night observation.
The built-in laser rangefinder up to 1,200 metres is located on the lens. This means you do not need a separate device to measure the distance to the game. The detection range of the thermal system and the measuring range of the rangefinder are two different values. The detection range does not automatically tell you at what distance you can reliably identify an animal.
The Thunder TX70CL 4.0 weighs 575 grams and measures 135×64×64 mm. The 0.49-inch OLED display with 1920×1080 pixels has a brightness sensor, which adapts the image to the ambient light. The power switch has been redesigned, and the device is ready for use after 2 seconds. This helps when you want to be able to look quickly during a stand.
The device uses Image Pro 4.0 for image processing and the Shutterless-System (HSIS). You adjust focus with a focus knob. The lens is closed with a magnetic lens cap.
Key Features of the HIKMICRO Thunder TX70CL 4.0
- 1280×1024 sensor with 12 µm pixel pitch: a high thermal resolution for more detail when assessing the thermal image.
- NETD <12 mK: high thermal sensitivity, so small temperature differences become visible.
- 70 mm F1.3 lens: a large lens for observation at longer distances.
- Detection range up to 3,500 metres: the specified range of the thermal system for detecting game.
- Built-in laser rangefinder up to 1,200 metres: measures the distance to the game without a separate device.
- Field of view of 12.8° × 10.3°: this equals 22.4 × 18.0 metres at 100 metres, so you can survey more terrain at once.
- 1920×1080 OLED display with brightness sensor: the image adapts to the ambient light.
- 575 grams and a 2-second start-up time: a light device that is quickly ready for use.
- Recoil activation: photos and videos are recorded automatically based on recoil.
- Replaceable, rechargeable batteries: with a spare battery set you can keep going longer during a long night in the field.
Image and Operation
The Shutterless-System (HSIS) is intended to interrupt the thermal image as little as possible while you scan the terrain. Image Pro 4.0 processes the thermal image. The device has no image stabilisation.
The customisable quick menu gives you fast access to frequently used settings. The menu lock prevents you from changing settings by accident. The contrast is adjustable. The virtual reticle and the built-in tilt sensor are available as functions of this model.
Photos, Videos and App
The Thunder TX70CL 4.0 can record photos and videos. With recoil activation, recording starts automatically after recoil. You can view the recordings in the local album. Via Wi-Fi you connect the device to the HIKMICRO Sight app.
Battery and Operating Time
The device runs on 2 replaceable, rechargeable batteries. The specified battery life is 5 hours. For longer stands, bring a spare battery set so you can swap the batteries in the field.
